Now, time for an interview with Daniel Scocco, founder of Dailyblogtips.com. Daniel is a professional blogger. He makes money blogging enough to make a living from his blog.

It was a pleasure to have a chat with him. Check out the Q&A.

Question: Daniel, how did you start blogging? I mean, what made you take the decision to start your own blog?

Answer: Back in 2005 when I got my degree in International Economics I was left with a big document that I had prepared for my thesis. I had put a lot of effort into researching and writing it out, but I was sure that apart from myself only two people would end up reading it, my teacher and my father…. Instead of letting the document sit idle and gather dust, I decided to chop it off into small articles and publish them on the web. That is when I started researching about web publishing models, and when I came across blogging.

Q: How long have you been blogging?

A: Since 2005.

Q: Which is your favorite blog? The one you read to learn from?

A: There are many: Problogger.net, Copyblogger.com, Entrepreneurs-Journey.com, Shoemoney.com and so on.

Q: How much money are you making from your blog?

A: Let’s say I make enough to live by .

Q: How long did it take you to start profiting from your blog?

A: For the first six months or so I hadn’t even considered the idea of making money with the blogs. Then one day I read about Steve Pavlina and how he was making a killer income thanks to his blog. That is when I started playing with ads. The first month I made $15 or so.

Q: Did you start blogging just to make money? Or just like a hobby/informative blog?

A: I started it as a hobby.

Q: Do you think the “make money online” niche is too much saturated? Or can new people still profit from it?

A: “Make money online” or “make money” in general will always be saturated, and at the same time new people will always be able to profit from it, cause it is a really intrinsic part of our society.

Q: Have you also been told the “You’re not gonna make it” sentence when telling others your blogging plans?

A: Yes. There were people who came to me at the beginning and I said I should abbandon the whole “work on the Internet” thing and get a real job. I never cared too much about what other people think though.

Q: You’re known for having one of the most usefull blogs, but also for making a good amount blogging and for reaching the first page on Google for some competitive keywords. So I’ll ask you for some tips here:

1) Which tip would you give to bloggers that try to make money blogging?

2) Which tip would you give to bloggers to reach the first page of Google for a particular keyword?

3) The best tip for a blogger?

4) The best advice for a new blogger?

A: 1) Focus on one blog at a time, and make it as useful as possible. This means working hard to put a huge amount of content there that your readers will love.

2) It depends on the competitiveness of the keyword in question. If it is a small keyword, you would just need to write an article about it and get some backlinks. If it is a competitive and profitable keyword, well, you will learn to learn some SEO, or devote your entire blog to the effort.

3) Content is king.

4) Make meaning before you try to make money.

Q: You recently released a great ebook. How is it going? How many new subscribers you got since releasing it? Has your traffic improved too?

A: The ebook is going well. It has been downloaded 5,000 times in two weeks or so. I am not sure about traffic. Last time I checked it was two months ago….

Q: Would you recommend to other bloggers to release their own ebook?

A: If you have something useful to say and experience on the topic, then yes go for it. It is a great way to build your subscriber base or simply to showcase your expertise.

Q: Your blog is focused on general blogging. Do you think you would have more success focusing on just one topic? Would you advice to focus on many topics within a single blog?

A: Equilibrium is always the answer. I think your blog needs to have a clear focus, else it will be hard to attract readers, but at the same time you need to have room to expand over time.

Thanks Daniel, and good luck with future projects.

This is a featured post.
I’ve had the pleasure to have a chat with the youngest and one of the best bloggers out there, Carl Kidblogger Ocab.

The guy started a blog and put it on the #1 Google spot for the make money online keyword (and I’m aiming for a #1 for make money blogging and blogging for money)

He’s a student, but he’s making 4 digits per month just from his blog. And I’m sure he would be making six figures per month if he could just concentrate on blogging.

I asked him for a few tips for me and for my dear readers. Check it!

Hi Carl and thank you very much for your time. Let’s get to work!

Question: Carl, how did you start blogging? I mean, what made you take the decision to start your own blog?
Answer:
I got my first computer at the age of four and got involved in the internet when I was 10. Playing online games, chatting with friends, networking, etc. I got so addicted that I had to use my own allowance to buy an internet prepaid card. Dial up was the best because broadband or cable internet wasn’t on my dictionary yet.

There was a time where I was on five hours straight! My dad then noticed me and asked “What will you get from those online games? You’ve been playing that all the time.”. Thinking of a hole to get through I replied “Well uh, I’ll beat my friends!”. He then got back with a joke “That’s fine, all of us needs to enjoy life. But all day? Those games are eating your TIME and MONEY, what will you get in the longrun?”.

Of course we both laughed, but that day while I was playing our conversation was running on my head again and again.
After a week, I got so curious that I asked my dad “What’s a better thing to do, I know you stay on the computer longer than me.”

Then he introduced me to blogging – blogging to make money. For a kid, making money on the net sounds to be virtually impossible. Heck, even for grown-ups!

So I kept on listening, then came AdSense, link building and some minor SEO techniques.

A month after that, I was on myself making some blogs at blogspot with aggregated content and big AdSense ads on it. Made some quick cash but it wasn’t enough to keep me from what I was doing so I stopped.

Then comes a new hobby – music. I joined a band in our school, played a couple of times but then again, all didn’t work out. So there I am back again with online gaming…

Yes you guessed it, few months after that I was back on internet marketing again. I tried it for the second time and started to take it seriously.

I asked a domain from my dad, and got my first blog/forum website (It was about the online game I was playing). He guided me a bit but the work was up to me. I created original content, did a little promotion and a dash of SEO.
Since then I started seeing real bucks on my part. I made a system and duplicated what I have done and started seeing more and more each day.

Q: How long have you been blogging?

A: I’m pretty sure, around 3-4 years.

Q: Which is your favorite blog? The one you read to learn from?

A: I think it would be overated to say Problogger.net and Copyblogger.com (but hey they’re really the best) but I also read thekeywordacademy.com, johncow.com and andybeard.eu

Q: How much money are you making from your blog?

A: I make $x,xxx/month on my blog

Q: How long did it take you to start profiting from your blog?

A: From the start I was already “earning” but it took me around 5 months to take off.

Q: Did you start blogging just to make money blogging? Or just to make hobby/informative blog?

A: At first it was just a simple hobby, but with a little motive to make money.

Q: Do you think the “make money online” niche is too much saturated? Or can new people still profit from it?

A: The way I see it, the more “saturated” the more profitable the niche because there are a lot of people interested in it.

Q: You’re known for being the KidBlogger, but also for making a good amount blogging and for reaching the first page on Google for such a competitive keyword. So I’ll ask you for four tips here:

1) Which tip would you give to a blogger who’s trying to market himself?

Socialize. Business is about friendship, connection. You’ll get to where you want faster when your friends are already there.

2) Which tip would you give to bloggers that try to make money blogging?

Have a clear vision, plan then ACT.

3) Which tip would you give to bloggers to reach the first page of Google for a particular keyword?

There are a lot actually, but this post is a good start http://www.carlocab.com/golden-seo-tips/

Thank you Carl for your time.

I hope, my dear readers, you enjoyed the interview. If you’re a blogger, you can’t ignore big bloggers, visiting their blogs and learning from them.

This is a great informative post, as Carl Ocab is one of the best bloggers out there.
Thanks for reading.
