How to make good advertising page

One of the main (and my favorite) income source to make money blogging is the private ads sale.
There are several ways you can apply to distribute your ads over your blog, but that’s a subject which will be approach later.
Today, I would like to give you some tips to have a complete “Advertise Here” page.

The fact of getting or not advertisers fully depends on the traffic you’re receiving. But apart from that, advertisers must get a first good impression about the way you work.
A good impression is always important, but you must be wondering how can someone have a good impression about a blog page?

The answer is quite simple. When it comes to the famous advertise here pages there are a few tips you can apply to have an eye catching page.
How can you do it? Just by following some quick and simple steps. *Please note that these tips aren’t an ABC to get advertisers and get $5K the first month.

What should you include (and NOT) on your Advertisement page

- A contact form: Here goes a secret: Humans are lazy. What would you prefer to do? Getting the blog’s author email, going to your email account and sending the message? Or simply writing the message within a contact form along with your email address? I would choose the second one.
Setting up a contact form is pretty easy using this plugin.

- Giving information: You must let your audience and visitors how much visitors and subscribers you have.

The information you need to release is:
- RSS subscriber’s number: Although it’s no guaranteed that your subscribers will visit your blog each and every day, as stated above it’s a proof of your power. Apart from that, you can put one of your advertisers banner within the feed page.

Why is RSS subscriptions important?

1) Attracting advertisers: The highest number, the better.
2) Proving your social power: It’s known that the highest RSS subscribers you have, the more social power, reputation and popularity you’ll have.

- UV: You will obviously need to show how many unique visitors you receive per month, as it’s one of the main advertiser’s concerns. You may want to include screenshots from Google Analytics or Sitemeter (to name a few) if you want, but it’s not necessary.

- Page views: Another main concern for advertisers. Page views are important for them, because the more page views you have the more exposure their ads will get.

- Tip. It would be nice if you can make a visitors / page views. It’s not an essential piece of information, but it’s nice.

- Alexa Rank: The same goes for Alexa ranking. If your website ranks within the top 100,000 websites you’re luckily to get a bunch of advertisers. Apart from that, social proof again.

- Technorati ranking: This is more popular than traffic related. But popularly is what rules the world, so the lowest ranking you have, the better. Anyway, having popularity means having traffic, so remember about Technorati rankings.

- Ads format supported: You need to inform advertisers about the kind of ads supported, in order to give them an idea about the kind of ad they should make. As an example, 125×125 ads got very popular amongst the blogosphere. Moreover, you should also include whether you support animated gif or not.

- Testimonials: You need to have had advertisers before, but if you can get a comment from them saying how great their advertising experience was, chances are you’ll get more advertisers.

To finish, a thing you should never do (from my point of view and personal experience) is to public the prices rates. I personally know advertisers, and all of them really appreciate privacy and don’t want people to know how much they pay for having their ads on your blog.
So, to sum up, you should include as much info as you can, at least when you reach a decent amount of readers, subscribers and rakings, so advertisers have it easier.
If you have more ideas, remember that you can drop a comment I’ll update the post and include your idea with a link to your site.
Thanks for reading.

Great Tips.

Private ad sales can generate a massive income if you have a popular blog. Some blogs sell private ads for around $300 only for 1 month and are making tons of money, but as you said it all depends on how much traffic you receive and how popular your blog is.
